RTF Quarterly Newsletter: Quarter No. 49 July-September 2022

The third quarter of 2022 has come and gone and the RTF was able to get a lot done over the summer. Members adopted a few new standard protocols, a new gas measures, and revisited an old standard in residential lighting. They even had time to focus on some extra-measure work getting updates from contract analysts on ongoing regional end use load research, the development of a new residential analysis model, and a study on extreme weather impacts.

With another quarter in the books, the newest class of RTF members is hitting their stride and keeping the RTF running seamlessly. This quarter members were able to update some long standing measures, approve some new ones, and even tackled updating some underlying supporting materials that RTF measures are built on. With the year halfway done we’re enjoying the fresh eyes and perspectives this new group is bringing to the RTF and we’re excited to continue our work together.

2022 marks the start of a fresh term for a new class of RTF members. We were excited to welcome the new group with a member orientation in January, which laid the groundwork for being a successful RTF member and hopefully got them excited for their role. Since then, the new cohort has stepped into their membership seamlessly and have already gotten so much accomplished in this first quarter. You can stay up to date on all RTF decision and news as it happens through the RTF website which is updated throughout the quarter.

Findings from the 2021 Power Plan

At their February 2022 meeting the Council voted to approve the 2021 Northwest Power Plan. This culmination of years of work by staff, Council members, and many participants from around the region reveals very different results than we have seen in Plans past. Since the start of the year, the RTF has been having discussions about what the new 2021 Power Plan is telling us about energy efficiency and how these findings will affect the RTF’s work going forward. In the fourth and final quarter of the year the RTF stayed as busy as ever. We were able to approve some new measures, restructure some old ones, and plan for the coming year thanks to the hard work of our tireless members in the last quarter of their service term.
