Description

This proposal introduces the Verdant EMS smart thermostat system by Copeland as a proven energy-saving measure for the hospitality, multifamily, and student housing sectors. These thermostats use motion and thermal sensing to detect occupancy and dynamically adjust HVAC settings, reducing runtime by up to 40% and delivering average energy savings of ~18%. Verdant EMS thermostats are already listed on the BPA and NEEA-approved connected thermostat list, demonstrating established technical merit and compliance with program criteria. However, current rebates generally exclude the lodging sector. We are proposing this measure to explicitly include hotels and similar commercial lodging facilities, where Verdant has already been deployed in thousands of properties with documented energy savings and strong ROI. Recent case studies are attached as proof of concept. We are happy to provide additional data, technical documentation, or live demonstrations as needed.
