This measure is the installation of an ENERGY STAR refrigerator or freezer, which uses 10% less energy than the federal standard, or an ENERGY STAR most efficient refrigerator or freezer, which has 15% less energy use than the federal standard. Savings are dependent on a number of measure identifiers including the appliance size, the efficiency tier, and the appliance orientation.

The RTF decided to keep Residential Freezers UES measure as under review until data are available to update to Energy Star specifications or July 1, 2013, whichever is sooner.

Because a new ENERGYSTAR specification is scheduled to be released in early 2013, further development of this measure was stopped until EPA releases the final ENERGYSTAR specifications. At that time, this measure will be updated with the new tiers.
