The latest ENERGY STAR specification for refrigerated beverage vending machines went into effect in April 2020. In the updated spec energy use is based on refrigerated volume. requires a machine to be capable of one or more low power modes including lighting low power state, refrigeration low power state, or some combined whole machine low power state. Additionally, ENERGY STAR models save energy due to more efficient lighting, insulation, condensers/evaporators, and fans.

This measure has been adopted as a Small Saver with an estimated 1 aMW of regional savings potential.

Adopt the ENERGY STAR Refrigerated Beverage Vending Machine measure as presented, and:

  • Set the Category to Small Saver
  • Set the Status to Active
  • Set the Sunset Date to August 31, 2025
  • Calculate incremental costs as a weighted average of costs for CO2 (25%) and Propane (75%) coolants.
